AE8FP Amateur Radio Exam Team

Administering ARRL-VEC Amateur Radio Exams in the Columbus, Ohio Area Since 2012

Beginning April 19th, 2022, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)  implemented a $35.00 fee to process a new / renewal / vanity callsign. This fee is separate from the test fee we charge at the test sessions. (Upgrades to existing callsigns will not be subject to this fee.)

VEC Teams will NOT be collecting this fee. Our team will continue to collect the $15.00 test fee as we always have. Upon submittal of the test packet to the VEC, the VEC will then submit their candidate data to the FCC, who will then contact the candidate via the email reported on their NCVEC 605 form, to provide them a link to pay their application fee via a credit card, or mail in a check to an address provided. The candidate has ten (10) days to complete this transaction. Upon payment received, the FCC will then process the application, and provide the candidate via email a link to download the Official Copy of their license. This link will be good for 30 days.

Failure to submit payment by the candidate within the 10 days, or a late submittal, will not be processed, and late payments will not be refunded.

Again, this application fee is NOT part of our testing procedure, nor can we assist.
